80 Years of Sammontana Gelati all'Italiana and Bindi: A Story Looking to the Future

Sammontana Italia S.p.A. Società Benefit proudly celebrates the 80th anniversary of two brands that are part of our history and identity: Sammontana Gelati all'Italiana and Bindi desserts, both born in 1946.

A special anniversary that tells a story made of passion, hard work, and entrepreneurial vision, one that continues to grow today with the same energy as ever.

It all began in 1946: in Empoli, with the Bagnoli family and the birth of Sammontana gelato at the bar-latteria (café-dairy); in Milan, with the Bindi pastry shop, which soon became a benchmark in the world of desserts.

Since then, we have traveled a long road together. Sammontana Gelati all'Italiana has produced over 1.5 billion kilograms of gelato, while Bindi continues to bring quality and innovation to frozen pastry, keeping pace with evolving tastes and consumption occasions.

Today we are an integrated industrial group, active in the worlds of gelato, dessert, and bakery, with an increasingly international presence and growth built on the union of tradition and innovation.

"The next chapter will be played out on internationalization," explained Leonardo Bagnoli, President of Sammontana Holding. "The challenge is to bring Italian know-how in the confectionery industry to international markets, where origin, quality, and tradition are a unique competitive advantage. Eighty years of Sammontana and Bindi represent both a balance sheet and a perspective: from a small artisanal business to an international industrial group, with the ambition to keep growing and bring Italian taste to the world, while continuing to be a family company to be passed down to future generations."

"Both stories were born in the postwar period of a country rebuilding itself, seeking continuity with its own culture through food. Gelato and Italian-style dessert — artisanal in their origins, yet able to scale up industrially without losing their soul — became part of the collective imagination of entire generations. It is a legacy that the Group carries with it into international markets as a distinctive and structural competitive advantage," commented Marco Bagnoli, President of Sammontana Italia.

"These 80 years tell a story of courage and transformation. Today we continue that journey with an increasingly international outlook, bringing Italian taste to markets around the world and building the future of our Group every day. Our overall strategy positions us as protagonists in the three categories of sweet pastry, dessert, and gelato, in which we are confident that Italian know-how can make a real difference, especially in the premium segments," states Alessandro Angelon, CEO.
