Sammontana, with its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, has launched a tangible biodiversity protection project: Oasi Sammontana near Persea, Sardinia, in collaboration with 3Bee, a nature tech company specializing in scientifically-driven environmental regeneration.

Biodiversity is a critical indicator of habitat health, directly impacting ecosystem balance and overall well-being.

Oasi Sammontana aims to restore natural habitats, increase native species populations, and promote long-term sustainability. Specifically, it focuses on protecting pollinators and fostering biodiversity regeneration through the planting of 1,500 nectar-rich plants. This initiative, carried out during the winter of 2024/2025 across 1.76 hectares, features 11 carefully selected plant species (Laurel, Carob, Cherry, Strawberry Tree, Mandarin, Almond, Wild Apple, Pomegranate, Wild Pear, Pompa, and Tamarisk). Expert 3Bee cultivators will nurture these plants, which, once mature, are expected to yield up to 215kg of nectar annually, providing vital refuge and sustenance for numerous wild pollinators.

Situated in a heavily developed area, where over 80% of the land is dedicated to agriculture and climate change has altered the microclimate, the oasis serves as essential support for biodiversity and crucial ecosystem services like environmental regulation.

This initiative underscores our dedication to caring for the environment and communities, through practical projects that not only enhance the quality of our products but also contribute passionately to the well-being of the lands we work in every day.
