Sammontana Italia announces the acquisition of La Rocca Creative Cakes for growth in North America

Recently, we finalised the acquisition - through our newly formed entity Sammontana North America – of La Rocca Creative Cakes, a Canadian company founded by the Givens family, based in Toronto and operating in the retail in-store bakery channel. Established 40 years ago, the company, with a production bakery dedicated to cakes, desserts and frozen pastries, distributes its products in Canada and the United States.

 

The agreement marks an important step for the growth strategy we announced with the new Sammontana Italia Group. The integration of La Rocca will be complementary and synergistic both in terms of sales channels and product assortment to Bindi, which is already present in the North American market, primarily in the food service channel and thus strengthening the Group’s presence in Canada and the United States within the in-store bakery segment.

The La Rocca name embodies a legacy of craftsmanship, Italian traditions and passion for premium desserts. Founded by Lina Givens and Harvey Easson, together with their sons, Marty and Michael, the company has grown to become one of Canada’s largest producers of premium desserts. For the past 25 years, Michael Givens has led La Rocca through a period of significant expansion, maintaining the highest standards of quality and innovation. The brand produces over 120,000 premium cakes each week on average, supplying leading retail stores across North America.
